My first masterclass weekend was held at this venue in July 2024, which was staged in a very comfortable hotel in beautiful Val Seriana, near Bergamo.

I would recommend that participants build in a few extra days holiday to explore the local area – too good to miss!   The maximum numbers for the course will be 12 participants, but partners are most welcome to stay at the hostel too.

The weekend cost is €349 per person and includes 2 full days of demonstration and practical participation, with all materials provided.

The price also includes one night’s accommodation (Saturday night), lunch and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday—I can promise the food is very good!

If you would like to stay longer, either before or after the event, you can book extra accommodation and meals through the hostel.

The rooms are comfortable twin-bedded en-suite rooms with a large shared balcony with fantastic views down Val Seriana (if you arrive at night, as I did the first time, it is truly magical).

Itinerary

Paul will demonstrate several different methods of hand-building clay animal sculptures over this enjoyable weekend.  

No previous experience of sculpture is necessary, as Paul’s simple approach to clay modelling is suitable for beginners or experienced studio ceramicists.

The emphasis will be on learning new ways of handling clay together as a group, in a light-hearted atmosphere.

All materials are provided and the price includes, with the help of a local potter, firing at least one of the sculptures to bisque if required.
